“Stéphane Mercier is a musician in constant evolution, as a player and as a composer”
Toots Thielemans
“...kind of like Lee Konitz with an edge of Dolphy...good time, great sound, wonderful melodic sense and really knows how to listen”
Mike Zwerin

INTRODUCING STÉPHANE MERCIER
Stéphane Mercier is a Belgian saxophonist, flutist, and composer exploring a quieter and more spacious musical language centered on the C melody saxophone.
Originally developed in the 1920s and rarely heard today, the C melody occupies a unique sonic space between alto and tenor saxophone. Mercier has made the instrument the core of a new artistic direction focused on sound, texture, resonance, and long-form composition.
His recent work combines C melody saxophone, flute, acoustic improvisation, and subtle electronic processing in immersive performances that blur the boundaries between jazz, ambient music, and contemporary sonic art.
